Each fully built and equipped shelter has a cost of $25,000. to $30,000. completed with full insulation inside and out. Starting with a 20' Sea Container as the base.
This is a pilot program to be placed in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area with the main container conversion taking place off site than being shipped to the site where each unit is set in the final position on a prepped concrete pad and then hooked up to required utilities. The unit is secured to the pad by being bolted down to the concrete so as to withstand up to and including a cat 5 hurricane. Once on site the unit has outside insulation and walling, including a roof added on to make each unit heavily insulated to reduce the cost of heating and cooling. We then add a bed and other needed finishing touches that allow occupancy of one or two people. (plus, one pet if required)
Each Shelter has a life expectancy of no less then 25 to 30 years and are designed (as stated) to withstand cat 5 hurricane conditions, heat, cold, and high humidity.
This is a starter home giving a person from the street a chance to rejoin society with self-determination and hard work! Not a Hand-Out, But A hand Up!
